Stoneman was here

This map (displayed at the Carson House west of Marion, NC) gives an overview of how Stoneman's Raid unfolded across western North Carolina in the spring of 1865. The railroads at Christiansburg VA and Salisbury NC were the priority targets. Others just happened to be in the way. There were also a number of peripheral raids that are not shown on this map. The raid continued into South Carolina and Georgia in pursuit of Confederate president Jefferson Davis.

NOTE: Morristown TN is located incorrectly on this map and is actually west of Jonesboro.
